Luckily, there are other solutions to this dilemna, which we should try to find.

i agree with alpha-plus

if you are going to do pool groups, everyone must play each other. this doesnt have to be 1 on 1 either. you can assign players to the pool groups and then pick a random track that all players have a certain amount of time to post their time on, you get ranked for each track (however many tracks you want to do for each pool, one or two should be sufficient) and then whoever has the top 2 times for each track goes on to the finals.

eg semi final one: group A 1st place vs group B 2nd place vs group C 1st place vs group D 2nd place
semi final two: group A 2nd place vs group B 1st place vs group C 2nd place vs group D 1st place.
then grand final: top two finish from each semi final vs each other
fastest time crowned world CTR champion for 2010.

but you have to list a date in which you will announce the track to be played a week before you do, this should give all players an equal oppurtunity in which to know what track they are competing on and to then have the same amount of time to try to get the best time possible

Group B : 3 Players.
1 VS 2
2 VS 3
1 VS 3

Group C : 3 Players.
1 VS 2
2 VS 3
1 VS 3

Group D : 3 Players.

Tell me what do you think about this. I think to use it for the cup, and dont worry for the match of 3 players, it's work for CTR ^^

Tom's idea is good enough, unless anyone has a better suggestion I guess we'll go for that.
