Once CTR Showdown! finishes (after Week 20), I will organize a small tournament to mark the end of Showdown!, called Showdown Finale!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:To participate, you have to have played at least one week in the regular Showdown! For more information on Showdown, click the rules topic here:
https://ctrgamers.forumotion.com/t1333-ctr-showdown-rulesOnce you have fulfilled this condition, you must announce that you want to participate in the Showdown Finale. Just tell me and I'll register you. Simple.
HOW IS THE TOURNAMENT ORGANISED?Exactly like Showdown, you make your times on your TV at home, and we trust that you didn't cheat. A video or at least a photo of your times is appreciated. Emulators are accepted (but no cheats or save states or other assisting tools are allowed).
The tournament lasts two weeks. The first week is a group stage. In the second week, the winners of the group stage face off in a final stage that determines the final winner!
GROUPSAll players who have registered for the tournament will be splits into groups (exactly how many groups and how many people in each group depends on the number of participants).
Here, we will take the example of
12 registered players for the tournament.
So, the 12 players would be split into
2 groups of 6 players.
We use a seeding system based on your Showdown! ranking. For example, the current Showdown! n°1 is greendayseb, so he would be the first seed. Clody95, the Showdown n°2 would be the second seed. To avoid all high seeds to be in the same group, the groups would look like that:
GROUP 1:
seed 1 or 2
seed 3 or 4
seed 5 or 6
seed 7 or 8
seed 9 or 10
seed 11 or 12
GROUP 2:
seed 1 or 2
seed 3 or 4
seed 5 or 6
seed 7 or 8
seed 9 or 10
seed 11 or 12
The groups will be announced the Sunday preceding the start of the tournament.
GROUP STAGE: OUTLINEEvery player in the tournament will start with
40 coins. What you can do with these coins is explained below.
In each group, all players will face each other in all 18 tracks of the game! The 3 players who beat the most people in all tracks will progress through the Final Stage (see below) and have a chance to win!
In each track, you will have only 1 try to make your time! You can buy additional tries with your coins!
1 coin = 1 additional try for one challenge. Once you have no coins, you have to play your challenges at 1st try!
Each player will propose a
list of 18 challenges that he wants to play (one for each track). This list has to be given to me by Monday. If you don't give me your list, you don't get to choose which challenges will be played.
Then, starting Monday and lasting until Wednesday, players will be able to
place coins on challenges that they want. Once you place a coin on a challenge, you cannot take it back! The challenge with the most coins will be chosen for a particular track. If two challenges have the same number of coins, the challenge will be chosen randomly from the two.
For example: Player1 bids 1 coin on Player3's challenge on Crash Cove. Player2 then bids 2 coins on his own Crash Cove challenge. Nobody bids more, so Player2's challenge for Crash Cove will be the one chosen.
Other example: nobody bids any coins on Roo's Tubes. So the challenge will be chosen randomly from all player's challenges.
Wednesday, a new video is posted that says which 18 challenges each group will have to play. Each player then has until Sunday to play all of these challenges. If they have remaining coins, they can use them to get additional tries for the challenges.
NOTE: Players from Group1 can only choose from and play the challenges from their own group! Same for players of Group2. The groups are completely separate!
FINAL STAGE: OUTLINEThe three best players from each group will face in a final group of 6 players.
Each player's coin count is reset to 40. Each player again must present a grid of challenges that he wants to play, and the bidding war again happens between Monday and Wednesday, like in the Group Stage. Once the challenges have been chosen, players have until Sunday to play them.
The player with the most wins against other players will then win the Showdown Finale!
FAIRPLAY, PRACTICEDo not attempt to cheat, or use more tries than you're allowed to. Do not practice your challenges once they have been posted on Monday!
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT STARTSPrepare your challenge grid so that you are ready when the bidding war begins. Remember, the challenge grid is the list of challenges that you wish to play!
A challenge grid looks like that:
-Crash Cove - Fast Characters, Lap with SC
-Roo's Tubes - Turning Characters, Course without SC
-Tiger Temple - Any Character, SL with SC
-Coco Park - Penta Penguin, Course with SC
etc... for all 18 tracks.
Then give this challenge grid to me so I can add it.
