wait, what??? what's the point about this? i thought a video of course was sufficient

ask Tom for confirmation of what I said, I'm not sure but that's what he wrote the first time he talked about the cup.

sorry to complain, as such a great job has been done with the cup thus far. just 2 small complaints though.
penta should be included. i realise you have done this to be fair to the ntsc players, but its like any other difference between the 2 versions so penta should be included.
my other complaint is with regards to the drawing of tracks and characters. once the track and character is drawn for one group, those 2 choices appear in the video to become unavailable for the rest of the groups (the paper is not placed back in the bag) this becomes different between groups as group 6 has lost 5 of the tracks and characters and therefore does not have the same chance of selecting each track as each other group.
someone has a different point of view? or explanation or any ideas about this?

I don't think to include Penta, for one thing : We all use Penta for Time Trials, so we know how to play with him. For the cup, I would change this coz the others characters are very differents, and if we had to play with Penta, it would be "easy" to play while with other character, we must use differents techs

And for the drawing, yeah, alpha made a mistake. For the next, I'll put the papers of tracks and characters selected 1sts in the bag again

I didn't make a mistake. This was made in order to have different matches and not the same all through the first phase of the competition. We don't want two or more videos for crash cove, for example.

Besides, everybody at the start of the draw has the same chances of getting any of the 14 characters or the 18 tracks. You have to view the draw as a whole and not just at the moment when your paper is selected : then you will realise that at the start, you have an equal chance of getting any of the papers.

All it changes, as I said, is that we might get twice the same track or character for the same phase of the cup, and I think it's bad for the show.

Now to answer Jacob's point about Penta. Of course, we could include Penta and you might argue that we have left open the possibility of someone getting a Dingo-like character in a Dingo track.

Nevertheless, it is a fact that Penta is the only SIGNIFICANT change between the versions, i.e., that induces singificant changes in time trials.
Small variations of froggy do not cause drastically different chronos depending on whether you play on PAL or NTSC. Whereas Penta is not only a matter of hundreths or tenths, but of entire seconds.

Finally, just like Tom said, one of this cup's aim is to provoke time trial situations that would not normally occur otherwise.

Apart from Coco Park I agree...

yeah as Tom and alpha sayed what's the point about play using penta? we all are used to play with him, if we put him as usual character, the experts, heros, etc will be inmediately eliminated cos Gods and titans use him always and we are experts with him.

That's not what we said. Experts and heros will always lose against titans and gods even without penta, just because they're worse players. The point is to try and do something different than the usual time trial dingo-penta combo, and try new techs with new characters. Also to help NTSC players who don't have pal penta, or even to prevent people from posting old vids of their times with penta.
